Minnesota Public Radio Invites the Public to MPR Day in Moorhead on September 28
Sep 14, 2017
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Minnesota Public Radio hits the road and heads to Moorhead for its final "MPR Day" of 2017 on Thursday, September 28, at The Rourke Art Museum. The daylong event will feature live broadcasts of all three MPR regional services: MPR News, Classical MPR and The Current, as well as live performances plus free admission to the galleries. The day will conclude with a live concert at the Red Raven in Fargo featuring bands from The Current's Music Exchange with Manitoba Music - Winnipeg.
Since its beginning as a college radio station at Saint John's University, MPR has grown to a 46-station regional network of three distinct services - MPR News, Classical MPR and The Current - as well as a national producer and distributor of radio programs, podcasts and streaming services, serving 1 million Minnesotans and more than 20 million listeners a week nationwide.
"We've been a part of this community since the early 1970s when we launched KCCM, one of our first network stations," said Ali Lozoff, director of MPR's 50th Anniversary. "We are excited to wrap up our yearlong series of MPR Days with this day in Moorhead and say thank you to the community with live music, thoughtful conversations, and of course, the fantastic contemporary art surrounding us at the Rourke. What an honor to be in that space for the occasion."
