Rock the Cradle Coming to Mia March 12

ST. PAUL, Minn., February 13, 2023 –Rock the Cradle, The Current’s annual, free event for kids and adults, returns March 12 with a plethora of family-friendly performances and interactive exhibits. The festivities will take place at the adjacent Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) and Children's Theatre Company (CTC) spaces on 3rd Avenue S. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, with activities geared at kids up to 8, including the longtime favorite Kids Disco in the Cargill Theater and performances in the Mia Reception Hall by the popular high energy duo Koo Koo Kanga Roo, local all-girl punk band She’s Burgers and TaikoArts Midwest’s taiko group, Ensō Daiko.

The event schedule includes:

Mia Reception Hall 

11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. (30 min sets)  – Koo Koo Kanga Roo 

1:30 p.m. – She’s Burgers 

3:30 p.m. TaikoArts Midwest’s taiko group, Ensō Daiko

Kids Disco at CTC’s Cargill Theater  

10:00 a.m. to 12:30 The Current DJ Ayisha Jaffer

1:15 to 2 p.m. K-Pop Performance and Choreography Lesson with Cypher Side Dance School

2 to 2:30 p.m. The Current DJ Ayisha Jaffer

2:30 to 3:15 p.m. K-Pop Performance and Choreography Lesson with Cypher Side Dance School

3:15 to 4 p.m. The Current DJ Bill DeVille

Mia 2nd floor rotunda / Pillsbury Auditorium

11:30 a.m., 12:45 and 2 p.m. Heliopsis – 2nd floor rotunda

11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Celtic Junction Irish Steppers – Pillsbury Auditorium

2:30 and 3:30 p.m. Brains On! Mystery Sounds – Pillsbury Auditorium

* Screenings of YourClassical Storytime will play in the Pillsbury Auditorium between performances to provide a more relaxing rest space
